Kosovo Government approves new Sanctions Package against Russia

The Kosovo government has adopted a new package of sanctions against Russia in line with the decisions of the European Council.

According to Kosovo media, Kosovo’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Liza Gashi stated that the new package of sanctions implies a tightening of existing measures.

“The new measures include the expansion of the list of sanctioned persons and entities, which means new individuals and organizations linked to Russian military and destabilizing activities, new restrictions such as a ban on the export of advanced technology and goods that have an impact on Russian industrial and military capacities, as well as a ban on imports,” said Gashi.

She pointed out that the Government of Kosovo has also adopted anti-sanctions avoidance measures to prevent practices aimed at circumventing existing sanctions against Russia, as well as sanctions in the liquefied natural gas sector and measures against around 50 ships that Russia uses to circumvent restrictions on the transport of oil and fuel.

She added that the sanctions are a continuation of the harmonization of Kosovo’s policy with the policies of strategic partners.

This is the 13th package of sanctions on Russia that Kosovo has introduced in accordance with the decisions of the European Union and the United States (US) since the Russia-Ukraine war that began on February 24, 2022, AA writes.
