Kresic: I do not see Similarities between Ukraine and BiH, NATO is present in our Country

Deputy Defense Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Mijo Kresic said during a guest appearance on TV that he did not see any similarities in the context of Ukraine and our country, and that the story about the endangered security situation in BiH was “exaggerated”. It is not clear to him who and why puts Ukraine and BiH in the same context.

”I do not see a similar context when it comes to Ukraine and BiH. Differences are also reflected in the neighbors. BiH’s first neighbors are NATO member countries, in this part of Europe only Serbia and BiH are not members, but NATO is present in our country, ” he noted.

Unlike Ukraine, the NATO Headquarters is present in BiH.

”There is also EUFOR, and all the big players have signed that EUFOR has the task of ensuring a safe and stable environment. NATO is also there as direct support to the development and establishment of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, ” stated Kresic.

He yesterday added that he talked with the NATO commander, with whom he drew a parallel between the situation in Ukraine and BiH, during which they concluded that there were no indications that any escalation could happen in BiH in the following period.

”The increase in the number of soldiers is a matter of assessment by the EUFOR command, ” said Kresic, specifying that the increase in the number of members means only four additional troops that will be deployed in BiH. He added that he believes the total number of 3.500.000 EUFOR troops is not large.
