Kristo: It Is Best That Everyone Specifically Says Whether They Support BiH’s European Path

The Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Borjana Kristo, stated yesterday, after the ministers from SNSD voted against adopting the agenda of yesterday’s session of the Council of Ministers, that a lot of energy was spent on preparing the session and the possible consideration of important laws for the European path of BiH.

“The session had been announced for ten days already, and we spent a lot of energy preparing it. We should have considered two items on the agenda, namely the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) and the amendments to the Law on the Court of BiH, as well as the Decision on establishing the Office of the Chief Negotiator of BiH with the European Union (EU),” said Kristo.

She reminded that work had been done on the laws for a year already, and that the law on the HJPC did not pass in the parliament session because of a single vote in the House of Peoples of BiH.

“I truly did a lot. I was in contact with representatives of the European institutions, and we were in contact with the Ministry of Justice. It is best that everyone specifically says whether they support the European path of BiH. I will do everything to continue the dialogue and work. I hoped for progress regarding these two laws, especially ahead of the European Council session, because there were clear signals that BiH would receive the green light if these laws were completed,” stated Kristo.

She added that without SNSD, certain things cannot be implemented or adopted at the parliamentary level and announced that she will continue scheduling sessions of the Council of Ministers.

The session of the Council of Ministers of BiH, which was scheduled for yesterday, ended in a way that the agenda was not adopted. The ministers from the Serb people voted against it, and in that way, the session could not be held.

The Council of Ministers of BiH was supposed to consider yesterday the Draft Law on the HJPC of BiH and the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Court of BiH, proposed by the Ministry of Justice of BiH.

In the second round of voting, the ministers were also supposed to declare themselves on the Proposal of the Decision on the Establishment of the Office of the Chief Negotiator of BiH with the European Union as a temporary body of the Council of Ministers of BiH, proposed by the Cabinet of the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH.
