Kristo: Next Week to discuss European Laws and the Negotiator with the EU

The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, stated that on December 2, the Council of Ministers will consider the laws on the Court and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC), which are important on BiH’s European path, as well as the decision on the appointment of the Chief Negotiator with the EU.

Krišto said that a decision on the appointment of the Chief Negotiator with the EU is necessary first, and that the names of candidates for that position are not yet being discussed.

Referring to the statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Elmedin Konaković, that he will not support the appointment of the Chief Negotiator if he is from the SNSD, Krišto stated that the political will of the people, i.e. the government in Republika Srpska, cannot be ignored.

She pointed out that at today’s session, she informed the ministers that the EU member states have accepted the Reform Agenda, but also that BiH is expected to ratify the Instrument Agreement and the Loan Agreement, so that an advance tranche of around 60 million euros can be withdrawn.

Krišto stated that at today’s session of the Council of Ministers, two teams for the peaceful resolution of arbitration disputes were appointed, and the basis for concluding an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was established, which relates to the rehabilitation of the existing road infrastructure on the Foča – Hum section, Šćepan Polje corridor.

“At the proposal of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, we have also adopted the basis of the agreement for the rehabilitation of main roads in the Federation of BiH. This is a loan worth 70 million euros,” Krišto stated.
