The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, spoke today in Sarajevo with the Minister of European Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Jessica Roswall, about the improvement of bilateral cooperation and the European path of BiH. During the meeting, it was emphasized that bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Sweden are good, friendly and without open questions.
Chairperson Kristo expressed her gratitude to Sweden for the continuous support it provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European path. She pointed out that last week’s decision of the European Council, on starting negotiations for EU accession, represents a huge step forward for Bosnia and Herzegovina and is a kind of confirmation and recognition of joint work and dedication, which resulted in the final achievement of the necessary level of compliance with the criteria for membership in the European Union.
She emphasized that the BiH Council of Ministers remains focused on fulfilling the remaining conditions and committed to the implementation of reforms, with the aim of strengthening democracy, the rule of law and the economic development of our country. She added that everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina is aware that there are still many challenges, obligations and hard work to come.
Kristo emphasized her strong commitment to comprehensive electoral reform and in that context said that we should give full support to the continuation of dialogue and compromise, above all to solutions that are the result of the work of the institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Only such solutions can ensure that BiH remains a stable, prosperous and sovereign country within the circle of the European family.
“President Kristo said that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to work at the same tireless pace, because reforms are needed by everyone in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She added that it is the strong support of friendly Sweden and all friends in the EU that provides additional motivation to face these challenges in reaching the final goal, and that is full membership in the European Union,” the Information Service of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
