A 17-member group of law enforcement officers, forensic and prison staff was certified to deliver human rights based training in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 29-30 January 2020 in Sarajevo. This activity is a part of an internal accreditation scheme developed in close cooperation with Ministries of Justice in BiH.
Following an 4-month long train-the-trainers cycle, these police, forensic and prison professionals have improved their presentation and communication skills required to competently deliver training programmes based against the Guidelines for dealing with persons deprived of liberty in closed environment to their peers. The core prison and law enforcement staff training team mentored their colleagues throughout this capacity building initiative by sharing their institutional knowledge and lessons learned through previous training experience and ultimately signed off on the accreditation exercise.
The accredited pool of trainers will further develop training materials and deliver training to their peers until May 2022 for the whole duration of phase II Action.
This activity is organised within the framework of the Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey II – “’Strengthening human rights treatment of detained persons based on European standards and best practices in Bosnia and Herzegovina “, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
