The legendary coach Miroslav Ćiro Blažević passed away. Ciro has been fighting prostate cancer for a long time and now, unfortunately, he has lost that battle. Ciro was supposed to celebrate his 88th birthday tomorrow.
Miroslav Blažević was born on February 9, 1935 in Dolac na Lašvi.
In the first season of the Yugoslav league, “Dinamo” won fifth place with Ćiro, which was not satisfactory at the time, but heralded the upcoming sports peak that took place in 1982, when “Dinamo”, after more than twenty years of waiting, won the title champion of Yugoslavia.
In 1983, “Dinamo” won the Marshal Tito Cup with Ćiro, and the very next year, going to Switzerland, he won the Swiss championship with the football club “Grasshopper”.
After returning from France, he won the Croatian championship with Dinamo in 1993, and already in 1994, the Croatian Cup.
After winning third place in 1998 at the World Championship in France, Ćiro was called the best coach in the world.
In 2003, he won the Croatian championship with Dinamo.
