Based on the epidemiological report of the Sarajevo Canton Public Health Institute and their proposal to declare a leptospirosis epidemic in the territory of the Canton, as well as with the expert opinion of the Institute of Public Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and with the consent of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Minister of Health of the Canton of Sarajevo, Enis Hasanović, issued an Order declaring an epidemic of the infectious disease leptospirosis as an endangered area, the territory of the Sarajevo Canton.
“During the epidemic of the infectious disease leptospirosis, measures stipulated in the Law on the Protection of the Population from Infectious Diseases (“Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH”, No. 29/05) are being taken, as follows: reporting, epidemiological examination, surveillance of sick persons, health education of the population, increased anti-epidemic deratization, emergency disinfection of public transport vehicles, increased washing of streets and sidewalks, increased hygiene of parks and garbage collection, targeted inspection supervision by the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs, as well as the implementation of other measures ordered by the Minister of Health of the Sarajevo Canton, or the Government of the Sarajevo Canton, and according to the recommendations of the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton,” the Order states.
The Ministry of Health says that they are monitoring the new situation, and urges citizens to adhere to the measures recommended by the Institute for Public Health of the Canton of Sarajevo, which can be found on the website https://zzjzks.ba/, the Protocol and Press Service of the Canton of Sarajevo announced.
