The Minister of Internal Affairs of the RS, Dragan Lukac, said on the K3 television program that he had talked to the representatives of the Ravna Gora movement and explained why their gathering could not be held.
”Every year, they try to hold a gathering in Visegrad and mark some of their days that they think are important to them. Last year’s gatherings were not held precisely because of the pandemic, we could not allow gatherings of this kind. However, this year they again expressed their desire to gather and hold such a gathering, we certainly immediately received negative messages from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) through the media that Chetniks are not happy to be seen at any gatherings, that it is a bad message, that it violates security, that the citizens of Bosniak nationality cannot come to terms with that, that they feel threatened,” said Lukac.
He added that, given the situation in the region, the area, and the whole of Europe, it is not necessary to hold a radical gathering and that only the wrong message will be sent in that way.
”It would be just raising tensions from RS, and we in RS must not allow anyone to endanger anyone, not even with theappearance, statements, or choreography. The task of the RS police is to maintain the safety of all citizens regardless of religion and nationality. I can also understand how Bosniak citizens feel when they see members of the Ravna Gora movement in uniforms and flags in Visegrad. I can’t look at it favorably and not feel threatened,” Lukac emphasized.
To recall, in the letter to their members, members of the Ravna Gora movement state the new and worsened situation in the world and the region, as well as the increased presence of EUFOR members in BiH as the reasons for canceling this year’s gathering.
”There is a lot of pressure from foreign and domestic factors from the federal part of BiH, media houses from FBiH on our organization, we must be smart and wise! The order of the movement’s leadership is that everyone adheres to the above statement,” the letter reads.
