Former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte will replace Jens Stoltenberg in the position of Secretary General of NATO, it was confirmed at a press conference in Washington.
Stoltenberg said in Washington after a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Rutte is a “strong candidate” for his position.
According to AP, Hungary was the last obstacle, but Rutte promised not to involve NATO in the conflict in Ukraine, thereby “winning” the vote from Budapest.
Let us remind you that according to Montenegrin media in the last period, Rutte’s deputy was supposed to be Milo Đukanović, the former president of Montenegro.
On October 1, Rutte should officially replace Stoltenberg, who has been the Secretary General of NATO since 2014.
