Pointing out the connection of France with the city of Sarajevo, Ambassador Gilles expressed his belief in the continuation of very good relations and successful cooperation. On this occasion, Ambassador Gilles presented to Komšić the project “Sarajevo 2014”.
2014 will be a very symbolic year for Sarajevo in many ways, because that year will mark 100 years from the beginning of the First World War and 30 years after the XIV Winter Olympic Games in our city.
“The city of Sarajevo signed a partnership agreement with the French Embassy in July 2012 with the goal of marking together this important jubilee’’, said the French Ambassador.
From the period of 21-28 June 2014, Sarajevo and all of BiH will be the stage for a cultural-artistic and sports program of world character,, with the goal to promote peace, art, freedom, coexistence and unity in Europe and in the world. On this occasion, France and Sarajevo, with the cooperation of the EU, formed a foundation entitled “Sarajevo, heart of Europe”, which would accept all countries and international actors that wish to be included in the project “Sarajevo 2014”.
Mayor Komšić welcomed this project and emphasized that it is great and will certainly have a positive impact not only on Sarajevo, but in all of BiH.
