Meeting in Washington: Support for the Southern Interconnection

US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić. Landau confirmed American support for the political stability and economic prosperity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The two also discussed advancing common economic priorities, including the Southern Interconnection gas pipeline project, which will strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina’s energy security and provide access to American natural gas, according to a State Department statement after the meeting.

As we learn from American sources, the meeting lasted one hour. It was rated as a good conversation. Landau said that Milorad Dodik is not meeting expectations and that he is not fulfilling what he promised and that he is working beyond the agreement. Americans might react because of it.

The Americans expressed satisfaction that the Southern Gas Interconnection project is going according to plan, and for them the Law on State Property is important for investment. The electoral law was not even mentioned – it was not a topic of conversation at all.

Željko Komšić refused to give statements to the Federal TV correspondent from Washington.
