Member of BiH Police gets 25 Years Imprisonment for Murder of a Woman

Elvis Ćustendil (51), a police officer from Tuzla, was sentenced in the Tuzla Cantonal Court to 25 years in prison for the murder of Amra Kahrimanović. The verdict was pronounced today, and after Ćustendil pleaded guilty five days ago, the trial was shortened as much as possible.

We remind you that the crime that shook Bosnia and Herzegovina happened in February of this year in the Shopping Center in Tuzla, in a catering establishment co-owned by Amra Kahrimanović.

That evening, Ćustendil stayed in the aforementioned bar, and at the end of working hours, when Kahrimanović came to close the bar, he got up and walked towards her, during which he shot her in the back. After she fell to the ground, he approached her and fired 15 more bullets into her. Immediately after that, Ćustendil was arrested.

“Then, in the hall of the shopping center, from close range, from the official pistol of the Police Department of the MUP, TK, where he was employed in the Operations Center, in an insidious manner, fired one shot into the victim’s back, and after that, while the victim was lying on the floor , fired another 15 shots into different parts of the body and killed her,” it says, among other things, in the indictment of the TK Prosecutor’s Office, which was confirmed at the beginning of June this year.

It states that at the time of the crime, Ćustendil was not on duty, but on annual leave, and he fired from his official pistol, which he characterized during the court process as a major failure of the Tuzla Canton MUP Police Department.

Also, it was established that this police officer was drunk.

On July 12 of this year, before the Cantonal Court in Tuzla, Ćustendil pleaded guilty to the murder, waiving his right to a trial, and the case was concluded today, without a court proceeding.

It should be said that before the pronouncement of the verdicts, it was stated that Ćustendil was threatened with a sentence of 10 to 45 years in prison for the crime he committed.
