Members of SIPA are conducting a Major Operation in Bijeljina and Brcko

Members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) are conducting a major operation in the area of Bijeljina and the Brčko District this morning, aimed at combating organized crime, drugs and money laundering.

“The operational operation is called “Šljunkara 2″. We are acting this morning under the supervision of the acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, and the area is Bijeljina and the Brčko District. The orders of the Court of BiH are being implemented. Searches are being conducted to find items that may be related to the commission of the criminal offenses of organized crime, illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and money laundering, prescribed by the Criminal Code of BiH, as well as the criminal offense of illicit production and promotion of narcotic drugs from the Criminal Code of RS”, confirmed Jelena Miovčić, SIPA spokesperson.

She could not speak at this time about how many locations were involved, and whether there would be any arrests.

Miovčić said that SIPA works throughout the territory of BiH.

“When we carry out certain actions, we do not announce ourselves, but sometimes we ask for assistance, cooperation with other police bodies in BiH. Sometimes it is the RS MUP, the FUP, sometimes we need cooperation from other police bodies. This time the RS MUP was certainly informed because certain cooperation was requested,” said Miovčić.

This is the third action in which SIPA is participating after the RS NARS adopted the controversial laws, which prohibit the work of SIPA in the territory of this entity, and it is also the largest so far.
