Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina will travel to Brussels again on Friday, where they will meet with European officials, this was confirmed today by the member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik.

Among other things, they will meet with Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, who was in self-isolation during their last visit to Brussels.

Members of the Presidency visited Brussels last week, where they met with a number of senior officials, and on that occassion, member of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zeljko Komsic said that the meetings of the BiH Presidency members with EU officials in Brussels were really good, especially the one with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Oliver Varhelyi, N1 reports.

“I must say that I am satisfied with the meetings, but also with the atmosphere that prevailed at those meetings,” said Komsic.

He added that he could only confirm the positive impressions expressed by colleagues from the Presidency of BiH.

After a meeting with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sefik Dzaferovic, Zeljko Komsic and Milorad Dodik, European Commission Vice President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell issued an official statement.

He reportedly welcomed the collective commitment to move Bosnia and Herzegovina on the path to its European integration and to guide the country’s efforts to implement the 14 key priorities set out in the European Commission’s Opinion on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU bid.

In this regard, the High Representative commended the recent important decisions made by Bosnia and Herzegovina, allowing for local elections in Mostar, the adoption of a revised National War Crimes Strategy, positive steps towards a fully functioning Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee and progress in foreign policy coordination countries with a common EU foreign and security policy.

In the context of the forthcoming local elections and beyond, the High Representative encouraged members of the BiH Presidency to nurture an environment in which unity and harmony can be found, by reducing political tensions and promoting reconciliation.

“The High Representative encouraged the Presidency to remain committed to implementing reforms that will enable the country to progress towards the EU. He also insisted on the need for the authorities to take responsibility in managing the migration situation, establishing a sustainable migration and asylum system,” the statement said.

Also, Borelli welcomed the good cooperation in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and he emphasized the importance of positive regional events.

The European Commission will present a very significant economic and investment plan in October to support the long-term recovery of the Western Balkans and bring the region closer to the EU.

Members of the BiH Presidency talked today in Brussels with European Parliament President, David Sasolli, EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Oliver Varhelyi and European Commission Vice President and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
