President of the Association of Detainees of BiH Jasmin Meskovic presented museum material to Judge Meron, and he emphasized the most horrible crimes that were committed in Prijedor, Srebrenica and numerous other detention camps in BiH, about which Judge Meron is very well informed.
“The Museum of Crimes against Humanity and Genocide must be visited by everyone shocked by the cruelty of a man to another man,” stated Meron.
In his conversation with Meskovic, Meron noted that he was most sensitive during his work to crimes committed against children, as well as children who testified before the Court.
Judge Meron will be in an official visit to Sarajevo from April 17 to 19. This is the first official visit of President Meron to countries of former Yugoslavia since the ICTY was closed at the end of 2017 and the remaining functions of the ICTY were transfered to the Mechanism.
Meron will meet with the officials of the Court of BiH and the Mayor of Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka.
He will also participate in a conference on prosecution in cases referring to acts of genocide in BiH with students from the territory of the former Yugoslavia on April 18 and 19. The conference will be organized by the Association of victims and witnesses of genocide and the Association of mothers of enclaves of Srebrenica and Zepa.
