Demining of an area of 1,886,451 square meters begins in Teslić today, and should be completed by April next year.
After the end of the war, Teslić had eight million square meters of land covered with mines, of which only five percent has been cleared so far, the Teslić City Administration announced.
This demining covers only 20 percent of the total area covered with mines in this local community.
According to the plan for Vrela, mine clearance will be carried out at 15 critical locations, including Križ, Hercezi, Okrugli kamen, Miljevac, Klupe, Kumina kosa, Samarice, Krst, Kanatova kosa, Osmičino brdo, Paljevine, Leksin gaj, Jelečev gaj, Gojakovac and Simakići.
Mayor Milan Miličević held a meeting today with representatives of the Banja Luka Office of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Center and contractors funded by the EU, and on that occasion he emphasized that the City Administration will provide the necessary logistical support to ensure that the project is implemented within the planned deadlines.
