Minister Forto Announces Upcoming Recognition of Driving Licences With the Emirates

Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) who live or work in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will soon be able to exchange their driving licences. Thanks to the Agreement on the mutual recognition of driving licences between the two countries, adopted at yesterday’s session of the Council of Ministers of BiH, citizens will no longer have to take the theoretical or practical part of the driving test in the UAE for category B, which until now represented a cost and a lengthy administrative process for them.

The Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Edin Forto, emphasized that this Agreement will be particularly important for everyone who goes to the Emirates for employment, education, or family reasons, as it significantly facilitates everyday life and mobility.

“The agreement on exchanging driving licences means less paperwork and lower costs, which will enable many people to start working sooner and resolve practical life obligations more quickly,” Forto said.

This step is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to modernize services in the transport sector, improve international cooperation, and make life easier for our citizens living around the world.

After the Council of Ministers of BiH, consent for signing the Agreement must also be given by the Presidency of BiH. Its entry into force is set for 60 days after signing, the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BiH announced.
