The Minister of Transport of the Canton Sarajevo (CS), Adnan Steta, held a press conference yesterday due to projects financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with special emphasis on the project reconstruction of the tram line. It was emphasized at the conference that secret agreements with the EBRD and the contractor do not exist, but are presented to the public in this way.

”Loan agreements are signed by the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and contracts with contractors are signed by the beneficiary, in this case, the Ministry of Transport. That’s the way it is with any project. All of them are conducted according to the rules and procedures of the EBRD, through whose portal public procurement is conducted for each of them, but also according to the legal framework of international agreements and our state. This is not a special case, the same practice is applied in every canton, the whole country, but also everywhere in the world. For the project of reconstruction of the tram line, we gave the public information that we could in accordance with the laws and rules, such as the results of the public procurement, the value of the contract, all information regarding the monitoring of the procedure,” Minister Steta pointed out.

”In this way, we protect the state of BiH and its citizens by working according to laws and rules. I understand that in accordance with the Law on Freedom of Access to Information, information should be provided, as we have done. However, the public should know that there are restrictions and special regimes if public procurement is conducted according to international regulations, such as this one so that BiH and all its levels of government are obliged to respect international standards prescribed by such international institutions, as well as the legal regulations of BiH and the contracting party of a contractual relationship,” Steta added.

He told the citizens of the CS that the interest of all citizens will continue to be the focus of the activities of this Ministry, the CS Government announced.
