Minka Kreho is the new President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Minka Kreho has been appointed President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina has decided.

For the past three years, Minka Kreho served as the Acting President of the Court of BiH, following the removal of Ranko Debevec from the position after his arrest.

She was also the sole candidate for the position of President of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Presenting her work program to the HJPC, Kreho stated that the goal is to increase efficiency in cases involving organized crime and corruption; she also pointed to the issue of the absence of an agency for the management of seized assets.

“There is also a problem regarding the control system for temporarily and permanently seized items,” Kreho emphasized.

She cited the retirement of judges as a challenge currently facing the Court of BiH.

“Four judges retired this year, and eight more are set to retire next year; consequently, it is necessary to reassign the cases they were handling,” Kreho noted.

On January 18, 2007, she was appointed as a judge of the Court of BiH, having previously served as a judge at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, Srna writes.
