On February 8th this year, the Council of Competition of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) received a joint application of the intended concentration of Arcelor Mittal Zenica, City of Zenica, KPA Unicon Finland and Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation.
The application refers to the establishment of a joint venture company, in the form of a limited liability company. During this week, all those who have certain remarks and opinions on this application can submit it to the Council of Competition.
KPA Unicon is the supplier of boilers, and the Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation is the Finnish state investment fund.
Apart from that, plans for the construction of a new heating plant have been announced earlier. As mentioned before, Arcelor Mittal would have 50 percent of the company’s share, the City of Zenica 20 percent of share, and the Finnish partners remaining 30 percent.
After the establishment of the company, the preparation of project documentation and procurement of boilers will follow. It was announced earlier that the heating plant should be put into operation by the end of 2019.
This heating plant should reduce air pollution in the city, because gases produced during the production process at Mittal plant will be used as gas-fuel for the production of heat energy.
