Money was transferred to the Central Election Commission of BiH for conducting Elections

The President of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Irena Hadžiabdić, told reporters today in Sarajevo that the problem related to the financing of the elections was solved yesterday afternoon, thanks to the decision of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their decision on temporary financing.

“With that decision, the amount of more than seven million BAM was transferred to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is the amount we requested for conducting the elections. But, apart from that, given that the amendments to the Election Law brought a lot of new activities under the jurisdiction of the CEC of BiH, including the testing and implementation of certain pilot projects related to election technologies, we will have to seek additional funds,” stated Hadžiabdić.

She said that the election preparations for the upcoming local elections in BiH are going well, and that the plan of the CEC of BiH is to announce the elections by May 9 at the latest.

“It is the last day because the elections must be announced 150 days before the election day. We will do everything so that on October 6, voters in Bosnia and Herzegovina go to the local elections and everything is ready,” said Hadžiabdić.

She noted that the Law on Amendments to the BiH Election Law imposed by the High Representative comes into force today, Fena reports.
