At the international conference Green Destinations 2023, held in Tallinn, Estonia, the Monument of Nature “Skakavac” of the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas with the story of good practice “Where Urban Meets Nature – Monument of Nature Skakavac” ) was declared one of the TOP 100 stories of Green Destinations about sustainability for the year 2023 worldwide, in the category that promotes sustainable tourism and stories of good practices every year, all with the aim of promoting the destination itself.
The submission of the good story itself was preceded by an assessment of the Green Destinations criteria, which had to be met in order to be able to present the work and the good story of the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas.
A good story about the practice “Where Urban Meets Nature – Monument of Nature Skakavac” acquaints readers with the challenges that the Institution has faced over a number of years of work, in order to preserve the unique nature and cultural-historical heritage of this area for future generations.
In cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Green Vision of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the institution entered the process of certifying the Monument of Nature “Skakavac” as a Green Destination, one of five destinations in the whole of BiH.
The competition was held under the auspices of the Top 100 Partnership and was also supported by the Future of Tourism Coalition.
