More Than 1.5 Million People Affected by Devastating Floods in Pakistan

Nearly half a million people have been displaced by floods in eastern Pakistan after rivers burst their banks following heavy rains in recent days, officials said.

A major rescue operation is underway, AFP reported.

Water levels in three rivers that flow through Punjab province, which borders India, have reached extreme levels, affecting more than 2,300 villages.

Officials said 481,000 people and 405,000 livestock have been evacuated, but many remain submerged.

More than 1.5 million people have been affected by the floods.
