The Jelšingrad Foundry in Banja Luka organized a public destruction of 1,536 weapons and weapon parts, collected and confiscated by police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The weapons are being destroyed within the framework of the IPA project “Support to Strengthening the Fight against Illegal Possession, Abuse and Trafficking in Small Arms and Light Weapons in the Western Balkans”.
The weapons destruction is being carried out by the Coordination Committee for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons in Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with European partners, and with the support of UNDP in BiH.
The aim is to draw attention to the dangers that surplus weapons, as well as poorly secured and illegally possessed weapons, pose to the everyday safety of citizens.
