More Than A Million Palestinians Refuse Forced Displacement From Gaza

More than a million Palestinians, including over 350.000 children, remain in Gaza City and in the north, firmly staying in their homes, despite the Israeli offensive and plan of forced displacement to the south, announced the Government Media Office of the Gaza Strip.

According to the source, Israel earlier forced about 800.000 people to move to the Al-Mawasi area, which lacks basic means of living. The Office states that the goal of the Israeli offensive is the imposition of the crime of forced displacement, which represents a violation of international law.

More than 68.000 people were forced to move south under bombing, threats, and mass killings, but more than 20.000 people returned to their original areas after discovering that basic life necessities in the south were unavailable.

The Office also emphasized that the areas of Khan Younis and Rafah, where Israel displaced about 80.000 people, were bombed more than 109 times, which caused more than 2.000 deaths.

The plan of the Israeli government, approved in August, foresees the gradual occupation of Gaza, beginning with the displacement of residents to the south, followed by the encirclement of the city and further attacks on residential areas.

Despite these attacks and the humanitarian crisis that includes shortages of food and basic means of living, the majority of Palestinians remain in Gaza City, refusing to leave their homes. Since October 2023, the Israeli military offensive has taken more than 64.700 Palestinian lives and devastated the enclave.
