Mostar And Herzegovina Expect A Record Season

Tourism in Mostar this year again lives up to its reputation as one of the flagships of tourism across the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Numerous tourists from all parts of the world have already visited both Mostar and the whole of Herzegovina, and a lot is expected from the central part of the season which is still ahead. New record numbers are also being mentioned.

Even yesterday, from the early morning hours, the old part of the city was filled with tourists from various parts of the world, most of whom are visiting Mostar for the first time and are not hiding their satisfaction with what they encountered – expectations have been exceeded.

“Fantastic, truly fantastic, we were in Turkey recently and it’s very similar, like Istanbul, a beautiful city,” says a tourist from England.

“We just arrived and it’s really a wonderful place, the whole panorama, perfect, and the people are very pleasant,” emphasizes a tourist from England.

“The old town is very beautiful, the buildings as well, and seeing that the mosque and church are right next to each other is very nice,” highlights a tourist from Denmark.

And to ensure that the tourist offer, both in Mostar and in other cities of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), is at a high level, the cantonal tourist board takes care. In addition to Mostar, a few other highly visited destinations have been highlighted.

“There are three focal points and hearts of tourism in our canton. These are the three cities: Mostar, Neum, and Medjugorje,” said Andjelko Maslac, director of the HNC Tourist Board.

The numbers for this season are so far extremely good, and expectations for the central part of the season are also exceptionally positive.

“Currently, according to the information available to us, let’s say that this pre-season is behind us and it went quite well. Based on the current announcements we have, this real, let’s say, summer tourist season will go in the best order – it could even be better compared to last year,” adds Maslac.

Good weather, a diverse tourist offer, and hospitable hosts are good indicators that this year, too, a huge – and it seems, record-breaking – number of tourists will pass through Mostar and Herzegovina.
