Mostar Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of UNESCO Recognition

The city of Mostar organizes the “Guardians of Tradition” event, which marks two extremely significant anniversaries this year – the 20th anniversary of the entry of the Old Bridge and the area around the bridge into the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the 21st anniversary of the restoration of the Old Bridge.

The event will be held on July 21 and 22 under the auspices of the City of Mostar, and the festivities will be chaired by prof. Đani Rahimić, President of the City Council of the City of Mostar.

As announced, the program starts on Monday, July 21 (Yunus Emre terrace) from 20:45, with an exhibition of traditional dishes, handicrafts, arts and customs of local artisans and artists.

This cultural evening will be about the promotion of the rich heritage of Mostar and Herzegovina, with musical and artistic performances and the possibility of buying authentic products.

Statements for the media are planned before the start of the program, from 8:15 p.m.

The program continues on Tuesday, July 22 (plateau under the Old Bridge), from 9 p.m., and the central event is a concert by the Divanhana group with free entry for all visitors.

The concert is organized as a gift to the citizens and visitors of Mostar in honor of great jubilees.

With this event, the City of Mostar wants to remind once again of the importance of preserving cultural heritage and building an identity based on tradition, peace and togetherness, the organizers stated.
