The “Bihać – Srebrenica” memorial motorcycle marathon kicked off from Bihać this morning, with motorcyclists paying tribute to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide committed in July 1995.
More than 300 bikers from the Una-Sana Canton gathered at the start of this marathon of remembrance and dignity.
During the ride through numerous Bosnian cities, hundreds more motorcyclists from other parts of the country and the diaspora are expected to join the column, so that by the time they arrive in Potočari, the number of participants could reach around 1,500.
For many participants, the road to Srebrenica is more than a road – it is an act of homage, a way to pay tribute to the innocent victims and to send a clear message: the evil that happened must not be forgotten, nor repeated anywhere.
The motorcyclists were seen off at the City Square by representatives of the city and cantonal authorities, wishing them a safe journey with the message “May Srebrenica never be forgotten and never repeated”, Fena news agency writes.
