The seventh edition of the mountain race Čvrsnica ultra trail 2023 will be held on Saturday, August 26 in the area of the Blidinje Nature Park, i.e. the Herzegovinian mountain beauty Čvrsnica, organized by the Croatian Mountaineering Society Prenj 1933 Mostar and the Visit Blidinje association.
The organizers announced that more than 200 competitors will run through the Čvrsnica mountain trails, and that half of the participants come from neighboring Croatia, and the reason, they say, is their participation in the regional mountain running competition as part of the Dalmatian Trail League.
Competitors have at their disposal three tracks with a length of 10 kilometers.
“The shortest trail ‘The Spaghetti’, a small beauty that will take you through Masna Luka and the foot of Čvrsnica, offers just enough to introduce you to mountain running, fall in love with the mountain and want to try one of the “harder” cowboy trails next year. This trail is intended for beginners, road runners and mountaineers who want to try their hand at mountain running, and the trail can also be described as a family trail for parents and children to walk,” the organizers explained in a press release.
Participants looking for a challenge and a real test of their physical fitness can try the 35-kilometer-long trail called “the Bad” with a total ascent of almost 2,300 meters.
“On this course, runners will literally get to know every corner of this Herzegovinian beauty – from Hajdučka vrata to the ascent to the Pločno (2228 masl) and Veliki Vilinac (2118 masl) mountain ranges, and they will get to know the beauty of Masna Luka, Borićevac and the Vilinac mountain lodge located in to the heart of Čvrsnica”, they added.
As they point out, there is also a medium-length track “the Good” 25 kilometers long with a total elevation of 1,500 meters, which also leads to a slightly smaller circuit around Čvrsnica.
The Čvrsnica ultra trail is a real challenge for all athletes, the organizers concluded, noting that this year the race will be run with the message “Don’t mess with Čvrsnica!”.
