Dragan Čović became the informal president of SNSD today. This was stated by the delegate in the Club of Serbs of the House of Peoples of the PS BiH, Želimir Nešković and explained:
“Cović announced two days ago that HDZ and SNSD delegates would not come to today’s session, which came true. Something similar happened a few sessions ago, and then Nikola Špirić was literally waiting for Dragan Čović to stand up from his seat after he announced that he would no longer participate in the work of the session. As soon as Čović left, all the SNSD delegates left after him. All this is unfortunate, because it shows that SNSD does not have its own position and policy, but follows suit HDZ.
The vice-president of SDS states that an additional problem is that SNSD and HDZ are again obstructing the decision-making on the most important issues for citizens.
“What is more important at this moment than the price of fuel and the intention to temporarily abolish excise taxes, which would make fuel cheaper by almost half a mark per liter? Even today, that initiative failed because of Čović’s HDZ and Špirić’s SNSD. We came to a situation where the price of diesel was close to 4 KM, and we warned that this would happen and insisted on abolishing excise taxes,” Nešković points out.
He says that he left Nikola Špirić 5 KM of so-called “help” to mitigate the increase in the price of fuel.
“So that he doesn’t bother getting a 10 pfennig discount from Minic the next time he fills in 50 liters of fuel. This kind of “help” to citizens is humiliating, because what does 5 marks mean to someone for 50 liters, which at current prices cost almost 200 marks. By adopting our proposal to temporarily abolish excise duties, about twenty marks would be saved on that amount, which can already be called concrete savings. The problem is that the interest of the SNSD and HDZ in the government in Srpska is more important than the interest of the citizens, so they are dealing with cosmetic measures,” Nešković explained clearly.
