A group of deputies in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, an act officially proposing that she appoint Nebojša Vukanović as Minister of Security.
SDP BiH deputy Saša Magazinović said that Krišto has been given a deadline of 8 days to respond.
“Obviously, Mr. Selak recognized in time that they had played with his name and candidacy, for which there is no support, and withdrew it. Vukanović has parliamentary support to be appointed,” said Magazinović.
As he stated, the signatories of the proposal expect the HDZ to show that it understands the seriousness of the moment, and to react quickly so that the Council of Ministers of BiH is complete and the Ministry of Security receives a minister.
“The political and security situation in the country does not allow for the process to be delayed,” said Magazinović.
In addition to Magazinović, the initiative was signed by Mira Pekić, Nihad Omerović, Sabina Ćudić and Jasmin Emrić.
Earlier today, an emergency session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) was canceled, the agenda of which was to confirm the appointment of Goran Selak as Minister of Security of BiH. The decision to cancel the session followed after Selak announced that he did not accept the appointment.
The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, stated that due to the new situation, she is withdrawing the Decision on Amendments to the Decision on Appointment of Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Deputy Chairperson of the SMBiH from further procedure and confirmation procedure in the House of Representatives of the PSBiH.
The position of Minister of Security of BiH remained vacant after Nenad Nešić resigned after he was arrested in January. Since then, this position has been held by Deputy Minister of Security Ivica Bošnjak.
