After the meeting of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the presidents and vice presidents of the parliaments of the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8), Member of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić said that the meeting took place in a friendly and constructive dialogue.
In a conversation with the head of the NB8 delegation Andreas Norlén, Chairman of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden, Member of the Presidency of BiH Komšić thanked for the interest in the developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. He pointed out that the Nordic and Baltic countries can be an excellent and practical example of good neighborly relations and mutual cooperation, the modality of which can be used by both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries of the Western Balkans.
“The delegation that visited the Presidency of BiH today conveyed something that I have been saying often lately, which is – that it is necessary to get out of the current political crisis as soon as possible and start working on fulfilling three conditions, which are the amendment of two laws – the law on the Court of BiH and the HJPC – appointing the chief negotiator, and adopting the Growth Plan. It also conveyed that it wants to convey a strong, common message for strengthening the democratic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, its path towards the European Union and for the progress of the country in general,” said Komšić.
He thanked them for their support since the war, that is, for helping BiH, professional and material.
“Condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the NB8 countries said that the current Constitution of BiH is the cornerstone of peace in our country, that everything must be resolved in accordance with it, and that, of course, they support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. Although we have their unconditional support on our Euro-Atlantic path, we ourselves in BiH must solve the newly emerged problems and start with the much-needed reforms in the country,” said Komšić after the meeting.
The NB8 consists of the Nordic and Baltic countries, namely Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the Office of the Member of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić announced, according to the Public Relations Service of the Presidency of BiH.
Bećirović with representatives of the NB8: Introduce sanctions against those who violate security and peace in BiH
BiH Presidency Member Denis Bećirović spoke with representatives of the delegation of the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) consisting of: the President of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden (Head of Delegation NB8) Andreas Norlén, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Finland Jussi Halla-aho, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa, President of the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania Saulius Skvernelis, First Deputy President of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Norway Svein Harberg, First Deputy President of the Parliament of the Republic of Iceland Bryndis Haraldsdóttir, Second Deputy President of the Parliament of the Republic of Estonia Arvo Aller and Third Deputy President of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark Karsten Hønge.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović and Željko Komšić.
During the meeting, Bećirović emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently facing the most serious security crisis since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, as the authorities of the Bosnian entity RS have attacked the constitutional order of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. With such an anti-Dayton policy, they are endangering the peace, stability and Euro-Atlantic path of the state. He emphasized that attacks on state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot and must not be tolerated, including challenging the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the High Representative of the international community.
Bećirović particularly emphasized that NATO is the strategic goal of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was unanimously defined by the state authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. No one in the state authorities has challenged the laws, strategies and other documents on NATO as a strategic goal of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Acts of non-competent entity authorities have no legal force.
Bećirović said that the Dayton Peace Agreement should continue to be the foundation of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that it must be consistently respected. In the context of the support of the Nordic and Baltic countries, Bećirović emphasized that it is important to provide support for the protection of the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to increase the presence of EUFOR forces and to introduce sanctions against those who violate security and peace in our country.
Representatives of the delegation of the Nordic and Baltic countries emphasized their commitment to preserving peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed their support for its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. They particularly emphasized their support for the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Also, they expressed their readiness to further improve the dialogue at the highest level and strengthen relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Nordic and Baltic countries at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović, among other things, recalled the very successful official visits to the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Lithuania in August last year, the Office of Member of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović announced.
Cvijanović: The only way to resolve the crisis is dialogue between democratically elected representatives of all peoples
The Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović, held a meeting with the presidents and vice-presidents of the parliaments of the eight Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) at the Presidency of BiH.
Cvijanović said that the challenges in BiH are not of a security nature, but of a political nature and should be overcome by political means within domestic institutions. She also said that the only way to resolve this crisis is dialogue between democratically elected representatives of all peoples, and not foreign interventionism that has brought BiH to a pre-collapse state.
The Republika Srpska, she added, respects the Constitution and the Dayton Peace Agreement, which did not foresee that an unelected foreigner can change constitutions, impose laws, punish political parties and persecute democratically elected leaders.
“Such dictatorial behavior, which caused the current crisis in BiH, is not in accordance with either domestic or European legislation. The institution of the High Representative is not controversial, but exclusively within the framework envisaged by Annex 10 of the Dayton Agreement,” Cvijanović emphasized.
