Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to fire the country’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, saying that there was “too much conflict” between the two in the previous period.
Gallant is known as one of the most extreme ministers and politicians in general in Israel, along with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
Both of them often expressed controversial views on the Palestinians, and Gallant, as Minister of Defense, was much more radical than his former colleague Smotrich.
Gallant’s place will be replaced by former Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, while Katz’s place will be replaced by Gideon Saar.
In a brief comment, Netanyahu cited “conflicts” and “loss of trust” as the main reasons for the decision.
