Netanyahu to Visit Hungary Soon for Talks with Orban

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will arrive in Hungary for an official visit in the next few weeks, said Gergely Gulyas, chief of staff to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Orban invited Netanyahu to visit Hungary in November, saying he would guarantee that the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister, which was issued for Israel’s war crimes in the Gaza Strip, would not be honored.

“According to current plans, he will arrive before Easter. When the date of the visit is confirmed, we will of course announce it, taking into account the extremely important security aspects of this case,” Gulyas said.

Several European countries have said that Netanyahu will be detained if he sets foot on their soil.

All EU members, including Hungary, are also members of the International Criminal Court, meaning they are obliged to carry out its orders.
