New 60 Million EUR for the Construction of the Corridor 5C

5CPE Highways of FB&H informed the public that the international financial institution, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), approved funding of the project for the construction of highway Pocitelj – Buna and the 3rd lot of the section Zenica South – Zenica North. This section makes a total of 10 kilometers of a new highway. This way, additional 60 million EUR were provided for the construction of Corridor 5C.

PE Highways of FB&H sent the initiative to the Government of FB&H to approve the procedure of borrowing for these sections. Tender procedure for the construction of these sections is planned to take place in early 2016.

“In the past period, we worked intensively to complete the preparations for the construction of new sections together with the negotiations with international financial institutions for the financing of these sections. We managed to complete the tender procedure for the construction of highways to Pocitelj and the second lot of Zenica bypass, as well as projects Buna and the third lot of Zenica bypass, and now it is on the state institutions to decide whether these infrastructure projects are priority in our country. It would be real to start construction of new kilometers of highway by the end of the year if the relevant institutions do their part and complete the procedure of approval for funding of these sections,” said Ensad Karic, director of PE Highways of FB&H.

For the construction of Corridor 5C 300 million EUR were secured so far, for the following section:

Pocitelj – Medjugorje: 100 million EUR, 11 kilometers long;

LOT 2 Zenica South – Zenica North: 110 million EUR, 8 kilometers long;

Drivusa – Klopce: 30 million EUR, 3 kilometers long;

Pocitelj – Buna and LOT 3 Zenica South – Zenica North: 60 million EUR, 10 kilometers long.

By the beginning of next year, we can have new 32 kilometers of highway on Corridor 5C under the construction.
