“We have already started implementing this project. On June 30 we expect the opening og the received bids and after that we will choose the most favorable bidder and contractor. If there are no complaints, the works will begin in the second half of July,” Hubijar said.
Hubijar explained that the six-seater will replace the present three-seater cable car.
“The six-seater will operate from the departing station on Babin do to the interstation. A two-seater, three-seater or four-seater will operate from the interstation to the top of Bjelašnica, that is yet to be decided. This is not about cable cars only. Through the tender we also requested a system for artificial snowing, for central lane and the cradle lane,” said Hubijar.
Hubijar added that the cable car from the interstation to the top of the mountain will be done first. If all the procedures are completed in the shortest time possible, that cable car will be placed in this season. after that, the six-seater will be placed.
“The present three-seater must be moved to the route of the ski-lift BX, and that dislocation is a danger for us. If we took that lift off and the weather conditions are not in our favor, we might risk the success of the ski season, and that is something we must not do. Therefore, if we do not manage to complete the six-seater this year, then it will be placed at the beginning of the construction season next year,” Hubijar stated.
Hubijar added that this is one of the largest investments of the Sarajevo Canton, amounting to 16 million BAM.
