The organizers of the new protests in front of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) announced that instead of today, April 24th, the protests will be held tomorrow, April 25th, at the same place.
As it was emphasized, the reason for the change of date is that the President of the Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik announced that the joint statement of the parties from the RS on state property will be signed today, as well as the announcement that a session of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) will be held tomorrow.
As previously announced, the protests will begin at 4:30 p.m., and one of the organizers, Suad Djozic, said that Schmidt should help implement the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) with his decisions. This is not the case now, as he points out.
“High Representative Christian Schmidt, who is the authority above the authority in our country, should, with his decisions, help implement the judgments of the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, and also apply the European Convention on Human Rights, which is above domestic law in BiH, and impose at least some of the 14 priorities of the European Commission for BiH (laws on the HJPC, ombudsmen…) that BiH needs to fulfill. Instead, he put himself at the service of retrograde, segregationist, ethno-feudal initiatives, which, violating the sovereignty of our country, he carries out at the behest of Zagreb and Belgrade,” he said.
Moreover, he pointed out that with this kind of action, Schmidt encouraged some politicians to bring back the memories of the period 31 years ago to the citizens.
“One can notice a corresponding similarity in the messages and events in the Assembly of the Republic of BiH (RBiH) (1992) and the Parliament of BiH/National Assembly of RS (NARS) in Banja Luka (these days). Do those who play with the fate of us and our children ever fear their responsibility, which is very important, especially in the West? There, when a major traffic accident happens, even though they had no direct (or even indirect) connection with it, politicians resign,” said an informal group of citizens gathered around the ReSTART BiH association.
