President of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH
Namely, Covic stated that two nights ago he talked with representatives of European politicians who came to BiH to prepare more meetings, all with the aim of trying to change the elements of the Election Law so that the elections have their meaning, true democracy, and that, as he pointed out, the President of the CEC of BiH would not speak on behalf of one politician, one policy.
He added that the talks were thorough and that Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic also talked to them in Salzburg and Warsaw.
Namely, Prime Minister Plenkovic said in Salzburg on Friday that it is necessary to restore trust between Bosniaks and Croats in the Federation of BiH (FBiH) for without it it will be difficult for a country to elect parliament in October under the old law as the parties have failed to agree on a new one.
”I think we fully understand what moves we need to make in BiH,” Covic said.
We have no doubts
HNS has reached conclusions, and one of those conclusions, which is in line with the Constitution, and constitutional powers, allows us to somehow seek a solution for BiH by all legal and political means when it comes to institutional, but also the organization and transformation of BiH, Covic explained.
”And from that side, we have no doubts, no matter who sends some other messages. We are neither naive nor thinking in any way about things that could ruin BiH. What we are proposing is building BiH, giving a chance to European BiH, and we will insist on that until the end, no matter what the others think,”Covic pointed out.
Covic believes that there will be pressure from international representatives, but also predominantly from ‘political’ Sarajevo, which is in one of its entanglements in the idea of how they can create a Bosniak federation through a civil state, and then BiH.
”It is clear that this is not the BiH that its inhabitants want. It is clear that at least two constituent peoples and a good part of the Bosniak people do not want such an approach, to make, I would say, some ‘cup states’ in the area around Sarajevo. The Bosniak, Croat, and Serb people in BiH do not need that, but also all the citizens of BiH,” Covic concluded, Avaz writes.
