Night Of Cinema In Sarajevo With Free Entry To Cinemas

Sarajevo, a UNESCO City of Film, is once again organizing the Night of Cinema, a traditional event that will, for the fifth time, open the doors of Sarajevo’s cinemas free of charge. The Night of Cinema will be held on Tuesday, December 16th.

This is an event that draws public interest year after year, with more than 4.000 visitors enjoying last year’s Night of Cinema, filling Sarajevo’s cinema halls to the very last seat.

On the Night of Cinema, December 16th, from 5 p.m. until midnight, entry to films will be free in the following cinemas: Cineplexx, CineStar, Ilidza Cultural Centre – Kino Igman, Free Kino Valter, Meeting Point Cinema, the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Cinematheque, and the Grbavica Neighbourhood Cinema.

Each cinema has prepared a special programme for the Night of Cinema, for all generations. Free tickets for the Night of Cinema can be collected on the day of the event at the locations where the films are being shown.

Sarajevo, a UNESCO City of Film, organizes the Night of Cinema symbolically at the time when the Lumiere brothers held the world’s first film screening in 1895 in Paris. The event is modelled after the French film holiday that has been held in France for nearly 40 years.

The event is already traditionally anticipated and held in Sarajevo, a city officially designated a UNESCO City of Film in 2019.

As a proud member of the global UNESCO Creative Cities Network, the City of Sarajevo, through the creative field of film, strives to offer rich and diverse cultural and film content accessible to all citizens and visitors of Sarajevo, supporting events such as the Night of Cinema.
