Nihad Sarajkić was sentenced today by the first instance verdict of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo to 40 years in prison. Sarajkić was convicted for the murder of 39-year-old Anel Kršo with a pistol on June 10, 2024, on Vilsonovo šetalište.
As a reminder, the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo previously confirmed the indictment of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office against Nihad Sarajkić for the criminal offenses of murder in a cruel manner and illegal possession of weapons.
“He is charged with killing Anel Kršo with a gun on June 10, 2024, at around 4:50 p.m. on Vilsonovo šetalište, where a large number of people had gathered. Namely, after they had previously agreed to meet and spent more than an hour there, the accused fired sixteen shots at the injured party from a distance of about one meter, 15 of which hit him.
He fell to the ground and while he was lying helplessly and suffering pain, Sarajkić approached him and cruelly kicked him in the head at least three times. The accused then disassembled the gun, placed the parts on a bench and waited there for the police officers of the MUP CS, who arrested him.
After confirming the indictment, the acting prosecutor proposed extending the detention of the accused. For the main trial, the court was proposed to hear 19 witnesses, 10 experts and present more than 150 material evidence,” the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office announced at the time.
After an investigation led by the prosecutor on duty, 16 shell casings and a pistol were found at the murder scene. The killer turned himself in to the Cantonal Police Department and waited for the police to take him into custody next to the murdered Kršo.
