Non-working Day in the Federation of BiH, RS does not celebrate BiH Statehood Day

Today is a non-working day in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Law on Proclamation of November 25, the Statehood Day of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina establishes that November 25 – Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a national holiday, and that state bodies, companies and other legal entities do not work on that day.

“Accordingly, and bearing in mind that November 25 – Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina is celebrated only on a holiday, and that the aforementioned law does not provide for the transfer of the celebration to another day, Monday, November 25, 2025, is a holiday and non-working day in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the relevant federal ministry states.

And while it is a festive day in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is an ordinary working day in the Republika Srpska.

Officials from the Republika Srpska have been stating for years that Bosnia and Herzegovina does not have a law on holidays, so that November 25 “is not a common holiday for everyone in BiH, neither in a formal nor in an identity sense,” is the position of officials from this BiH entity.
