Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) Denis Zvizdić is participating in the work of the Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the European Union, which, as part of the European Parliamentary Week, is being held today and tomorrow in Brussels.
The conference is jointly organized by the European Parliament and the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden, the country that currently chairs the European Council. Representatives of 39 parliaments and 27 member states are attending the conference, it was announced from the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
In their opening address, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the President of the Swedish Parliament, Andreas Norlen, especially welcomed the presence of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH PA, Denis Zvizdić, and expressed their satisfaction with the recent acquisition of candidate status for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Today, Zvizdić had a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden, Andreas Norlen, and informed him about the political and economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He congratulated him on assuming the presidency of the Council of the European Union and thanked him for his support for BiH’s European path and for the great commitment of friendly Sweden in granting BiH candidate status for membership in the European Union in December last year.
He said that Bosnia and Herzegovina will initiate the accelerated implementation of reforms, especially the 14 priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission and will do everything to open negotiation clusters as soon as possible. Zvizdić emphasized that Euro-Atlantic integration remains the key foreign policy priority of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Norlen said that his country supports the enlargement of the European Union and emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina has their support on this path.
