At the 44th session of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee that was held in Prague (Czech Republic), the substitution of the host of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2017 was officially confirmed, and it will be held in the city of Erzurum in Turkey, while the cities of Sarajevo and Eastern Sarajevo will be hosting EYOF 2019, as announced from the B&H Olympic Committee.
The Presidency of B&H strongly supported and confirmed the special patronage of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019, and the Council of Ministers unanimously concluded that they will support the Olympic Festival which means that the Olympic flame will burn in Sarajevo and Eastern Sarajevo in 2019.
Regardless of the additional time that the host cities got by the replacement of terms, the organization and providing of funds for the European Youth Olympic Festival “EYOF Sarajevo / East Sarajevo 2019” must start immediately in order to justify the confidence of the European Olympic Committee, and to show that the Olympic spirit is still present in B&H.
It is very important to emphasize gratitude to the Turkish Republic and the Olympic Committee of Turkey, which showed the true friendly relationship once again, and took the responsibility for the organization of the EYOF 2017 in such a short period of time, as emphasized from the B&H Olympic Committee.
