As confirmed by the contractor, all pillars will be operational in the first half of May and the test phase will last for the first 15 days of use, after which will start the process of issuing the cards to specific users.
The procedure that shall prescribe the manner and conditions concerning the authorization, or the cards for vehicles to enter the pedestrian zone, is in preparation, as well as conditions for transport of cargo vans, which will be adopted by the Municipal Council of Stari Grad.
Only vehicles with cards will be able to pass in the pedestrian zone, and cardholders cannot borrow the card nor abuse it in any other way.
Within the first phase of the project, and part of the second phase, pillars will be placed at locations Sebilj, Bravadžiluk, Halači, Abadžiluk, Prote Bakovića, Kundurdžiluk, Trg Fra Grge Martica-the Cathedral, Mula Mustafe Bašeskije – building Feroelektra and Trg oslobodjenja – Alija Izetbegovic.
Thus, the access to vehicles from the direction of Sebilj will now be completely disabled because fixed pillars will be set there, as well as on entrance to Trg oslobodjenja Alija Izetbegovic. A total of 36 fixed pillars will be set up at these locations.
In the streets where it is not possible to set up pillars (Ferhadija, Strosmajerova and Jelica Street) will be set up traffic signs with additional boards for the pedestrian zone, and with members of the Police Station in Stari Grad was agreed more strict and more efficient control. Since in these streets signs were not placed before, it was not possible to punish careless drivers.
The test phase of the project will last for 15 days and during this period all vans will be able to pass without a card in locations with submersible pillars, but only in the period from 6 am -9 am and 11 pm – 1 am.
The value of this project is around 145,000 BAM, as announced from the Municipality of Stari Grad.
