The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office announced today that Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and Alma Destanović, who were arrested in the “Start” operation, were handed over to the jurisdiction of this judicial institution.
The head of the Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžbajrić, was deprived of his liberty as part of the action codenamed “Start”, announced the spokeswoman of the CS Prosecutor’s Office, Azra Bavčić. According to her, acting prosecutors are interrogating him in the premises of the CS Ministry of Interior. Hadžibajrić’s son Seid was also arrested.
“They will be detained for 24 hours, and within that legal period acting prosecutors will decide on further measures against the suspects,” the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office notes.
Members of the MIA of the Sarajevo Canton arrested seven persons from Sarajevo suspected of organized crime, abuse of position or authority, money laundering, and receiving and giving gifts in Operation “Start”.
Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, Elmedin Karišik, Seid Hadžibajrić and Alma Destanović were deprived of their freedom as part of the action codenamed “Start”. The Prosecutor’s Office of Sarajevo Canton (CS) charges them with criminal offenses – organized crime, i.e. abuse of position or authority.
As part of the investigative activities in the “Start” case, members of the BiH Investigation and Protection Agency /SIPA/ have blocked the accounts in the amount of more than half a million BAM, of physical and legal persons who are connected with the commission of criminal acts.
The action included more than 10 natural and legal persons suspected of organized crime and abuses in multimillion-dollar amounts.
