Multiple Academy Award winner Oliver Stone wrote and directed more than 20 feature movies, and his work includes some of the cult titles that made a great impact on the past decade. Stone completely rejected the conventions of the mythical genre in some of his movies, and it primarily refers to the “Platoon ” (1986), the first film from his Vietnamese trilogy, and films “Born on the Fourth of July (1989)”, “American Presidency—JFK” (1991), “Nixon” (1995), as well as the satirical portrait of former US President George W. Bush called “W” (2008) and the documentary film about the life of American whistleblower Edward Snowden called “Snowden” (2016).
His films attracted the attention of a large international audience and made an important cultural impact. Among those films are “Salvador” (1985), a critical representation of the US corporate capitalism “Wall Street” (1987), a true story of 2 person of only 20 survivors of the terrorist attack that took place in New York on September 11, 2001 called “The World Trade Center” and “The Doors” (1991).
Stone’s series of crime-related movies, besides “Natural Born Killers” also includes “U Turn” (1997) and “Savages” (2012).
He is also the author of several documentary films, including three films about Fidel Castro “Commandante” (2003); “Looking for Fidel” (2004) and a film about huge changes that took place in South America called “South of the Border” (2009), in which he devoted a lot of attention to Hugo Chavez and six other South American presidents. He also filmed a movie about relations between Israel and Palestine called “Persona non grata” (2003).
Recently, Stone recorded twelve hours long TV series ” Untold History of the United States ” (Showtime, 2012) which deals with the triumphalist interpretation of American history and a four-part conversation with the President of Russia called Putin’s Interview (Showtime, 2017).
