Italian authorities have extradited Olivier Hadzovic (20) to France, suspected of the murder of Aboubakar Cisse during prayer in a mosque.
Aboubakar Cisse was stabbed several dozen times while attending prayers in a mosque in the southern French town of La Grand-Combe on April 25th.
Hadzovic, a twenty-year-old French citizen of Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) origin, is accused of carrying out the attack and surrendered to Italian authorities after three days on the run.
According to a witness, Hadzovic said that he “wanted to physically harm someone, without saying whom or where, and without mentioning ethnicity or religion, driven by a violent desire to kill someone, and if that failed, to commit suicide,” the prosecutor said.
It was also stated that the suspect had expressed online, a year earlier, an urge for “rape” and “murder.”
The suspect is believed to have stabbed his victim 57 times, filming himself to post the attack on social media.
