With the financial support of the European Union, in December 2018, World Vision BiH, in cooperation with UNICEF, has launched a series of activities aimed at the inclusion of children of migrants and refugees in the educational system in Bosnia and Herzegovina. World Vision is determined to continue working, in cooperation with local partners and other international organizations, to improve the living conditions for the children of migrants and refugees, as well as their families.
At a regular session of BiH’s Council of Ministers (CoM) on Jan.23, 2019, it was stated that a total of 23,902 migrants have been registered on the territory of the country in the period from Jan. to Dec. last year, where 22,499 persons expressed intent to seek asylum, but only 1,567 of them have applied for asylum.
The biggest number of migrants arrived from Pakistan (7,770), Iran (3,663), Syria (3,017), Afghanistan (2,780) and Iraq (2,184).
