On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the mayor of the Canadian capital, Ottawa, declared July 11, 2025, the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Srebrenica Genocide.
The Genocide Research Institute of Canada announced that, in remembering the Srebrenica genocide, we commit to always defending the truth, justice, the culture of remembrance and the human dignity of the victims both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the world.
They added that they will continuously strengthen the culture of remembrance and institutionally fight against the denial of genocide, the denial of judicial and historical facts and the glorification of convicted war criminals.
“We call on the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Canada to understand this proclamation by the mayor of the capital, Ottawa, as a need to respect the decisions of the Parliament of Canada on the genocide in Srebrenica, and the decisions of the competent authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to lower the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the embassy building on July 11,” the Institute announced.
